Ohio University Housing Off Campus Exemptions

- Ohio University considers students enrolled in 10 hours or less part time and also exempt.
- Veterans with 18 months of active duty are exempt and can also live off campus.
- Married students or single parents are exempt and may live off campus.
- Commuting students living with a parent within 50 miles of campus are also exempt.
- Dietary issues and medical issues are other reasons but require approval.
- Financial problems are another factor for some candidates.
Greek Life
If you enlisted with any of the locally known sororities or fraternities and have also completed a full year of housing on campus, you can apply for off campus housing before fall semester. You can not access this exemption after the school year has begun, but any newly elected officers that are required to live in Greek housing will be considered. The Campus Involvement Center approves all requests for Greek housing.
