Ohio University Rental Halloween 2019

Category: Category:   Bulletin Board

Years ago, Halloween in Athens at Ohio University assumed the role of best party in the nation for that holiday. It held command for many years but has since fallen off slightly from the top. The festivities for 2019 has swept passed us already. Visitors travel from miles around just to addend the annual block party for only one fateful night. Nearly every Ohio University Rental prepares for a night to remember. Let’s look back on how things have changed.

Ohio University Rental Parties

According to legend, and Wikipedia, the first party was the result of a drunken whim. Back in 1974, several spirited college students dressed in festive costumes overtook Court Street for a couple hours the night of Halloween. They stumbled from the bars and local house parties and forced a street closure because of all the activity. It also appears that a tradition began brewing. The next year, Homecoming and Halloween fell on the same weekend and kind of merged the two events that year. But in 1976, the event returned and never looked back.

The Embrace Of Athens

After years of refusing to welcome these visitors to a sanctioned event, the city of Athens finally decided to embrace the night once more. To be fair, Ohio University and the city of Athens tried to host and organize a few times in the past. These approvals spanned only a couple years that were sporadic and short-lived. In 2019, however, the city finally decided to try again. The city hired a director to manage the festivities and also added new attractions. To raise money and appeal to the family crowd, they hosted a beer garden at the parking garage. They also had lots of other family friendly activities.  The weather did not help this year. That kept too many people away. Next year, we hope for the same city approval.
