Palmer Place Thoughts

Category: Category:   Bulletin Board

Most visitors to Athens, Ohio, venture here because of Ohio University. And when traveling around town many will come across an apartment complex known as Palmer Place. It’s not the biggest apartment community in Athens. It does, however, hold the title as biggest apartment community on Palmer Street in Athens. Another company owns and manages Palmer Place, but most of our properties can be found nearby. While there are many advantages and disadvantages to living in a place like this, here are some things you should consider. Also, you get a brief history lesson.

From Bob’s IGA & Landmark Supply To…Palmer Place?

Long before Palmer Place existed in that spot, Bob’s IGA and the Landmark Supply occupied that area of town. Before Wal-Mart came to town, Kroger ruled the road on East State Street. But in the neighborhoods you could find places like Bob’s IGA and Siemens to perform some small scale grocery shopping. Siemens appears to be that last market standing at this point in time.

Landmark Supply was used by people from all around. They would supply all sorts of agricultural needs to the local community and rural community.

Too Big For Comfort?

For some people, two years in the dorm just seems to last forever. You’re constantly walking off campus to go places anyways, why can’t you just live there? That’s why living in a large place with over 250 neighbors feels a little bit like a dorm setting, only larger, to some. Somebody is ALWAYS awake and also making noise at some point during the day and night, which can be frustrating when trying to study.

Comfortable Because It’s Big

On the same token as the paragraph above, the large setting provides some comforts. There can be some increased feelings of safety in such a well lit and populated area. And you’re also more likely to have a friend close to you.
