It’s summer and the deer are out heavily in our area at Uptown Campus Apartment. We have many deer here at Ohio University campus. We also came up with a list of some deer resistant plants also native to our area plants for you to enjoy. Also a member of the Daisy, or Composite, plant family, Coneflowers are wonderful deer-resistant additions to the landscape. They are also exemplary butterfly magnets when planted in sunny conditions and, when left on the plant to dry, their seed heads support the birds throughout the fall months. They also come in many colors so you can have a very colorful pallet.

A member of the Daisy, or Composite, plant family Coreopsis is also a great choice when it comes to deer-resistant perennials. This repeat-flowering native performs well in the garden and provides support for pollinators. They are a very pretty yellow with a burnt orange center. Coreopsis plants are known for their cheerful, daisy-like blooms that come in a variety of colors. This is also including shades of yellow, pink, and red. They thrive in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. These plants are also quite versatile, as they can tolerate poor soil conditions and are drought-tolerant once established. They are often found in the wild along roadsides, adding a touch of natural beauty to the landscape.
Coreopsis are low-maintenance and drought-tolerant, but keep an eye out for aphids and powdery mildew. Deadheading, or removing the dead blooms, can promote continuous blooming and prevent self-sowing. Coreopsis plants are native to North and South America. These vibrant perennials are a good choice for your garden, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators with their colorful blooms. They prefer well-draining soil, so add perlite or peat moss to boost the drainage if you have clay or poor soil. Place them in an area of your uptown campus apartment that receives at least six hours of full sun. Although some varieties can tolerate light shade. I think adding these will be great for anyone who is wanting to have some deer resistant plants.
